Many settlements of the indigenous peoples can only be reached by boat. The parish doesn't have a boat, so it can be very difficult to visit the families, celebrate the Liturgy in their chapels, provide religious instruction and generally be with the people pastorally.
Hope in Action
At present there are three young men from the Maronite Archdiocese of Baalbek who are training for the priesthood. Archbishop Hanna Rahme has a particular concern for these young men, but lacks the necessary resources. He has turned to ACN for help, so that they can be given a solid formation and be able to stand by their people as true shepherds.
To provide formation for these new catechists, the parish needs suitable teaching materials, including books, Bibles, instructional videos and related equipment for replaying and projecting films, etc. In addition, each catechist is to be provided with an alb to wear when leading the Liturgies of the Word.
The Priestly Congregation of the “Miles Christi” was founded in 1994 in Argentina. The name means “Soldiers of Christ,” and their desire is to seek something different from what the world has to offer. Their Rule stipulates that they should reject a “vulgar, empty and useless life” and instead ask themselves, with their gaze turned to Jesus Christ, “What have I done for Christ? What am I doing for Christ? What must I do for Christ?”
