Courage in Faith

Remembering Today's Christian Martyrs

“The souls of the righteous are in the hand of God and no torment will ever touch them.” Wisdom 3: 1

Join us in remembering those who have been martyred for their faith and stand in solidarity with our fellow Christians as they fight for religious freedom today.

Aid to the Church in Need is asking all those of faith to join us during the week of April 6, 2025 for this special campaign in symbolic gestures of solidarity — by wearing red (the color of the martyrs), lighting parish churches and institutions in red, and commemorating the week with prayer and special Masses.

Courage in Faith Mass - Lent 2025

On Sunday, April 6, 2025, Cardinal Timothy Dolan will once again celebrate a special Mass for the persecuted Church and her faithful at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City at 10;30 am. Please join us if you can and give witness to what our brothers and sisters in faith are going through in so many regions of the world. Saint Patrick’s Cathedral 631 Fifth Avenue New York, New York.

How You Can Participate

We are requesting that as many parishes as possible go red in remembrance and in solidarity with our fellow faithful, and hold special Masses so that our Catholic communities can come together to pray for their persecuted brothers and sisters.

Perhaps you would like to ask your parish priest for his involvement in our campaign. Your parish can go red, your parish school can have a dress down day (kids can dress in red!), your rosary group can have a special prayer session and vigil for persecuted faithful. Please click here for materials your parish can use during Courage in Faith Week.

On an individual basis, you can attend Mass in place of a suffering Christian who cannot because they live in fear of practicing their faith publicly. You can light a red candle and place it in your window for Courage in Faith Week. You and your friends can hold a bake sale and donate the proceeds to the persecuted and suffering Church. Perhaps you can ask the young people in your life to share the Courage in Faith message, #CourageInFaithWitness, on their social media platforms.

Whatever you do to commemorate this special week, please share your words and photos with us at courageinfaith@churchinneed.org so that we may post your unique tribute on our website. Please also sign our Courage in Faith Pledge below if you’d like. Together, we will stand together for religious freedom and for those suffering simply for worshiping Him.
