Father John Bonnici

Father John Bonnici has served as pastor of Saint Columba Church in Chester, NY since 2008; previously, he was pastor of Saint Philip Neri Church in the Bronx, NY. He completed studies for the priesthood at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. A native of New York, he was ordained to the priesthood by Cardinal John O’Connor in 1991.

From 1994-2013, he taught theology at St. Joseph’s Seminary, in Dunwoodie, NY, in addition to courses in social justice and the theology of marriage & human sexuality. From 1996-2001, he was Director of the Family Life/Respect Life Office of the Archdiocese of New York; he served as Chair of the New York State Pro-Life Coordinators Conference and was a member of the Public Policy committee of the New York State Catholic Conference. From 2002-2008, Father Bonnici was a Trustee of the City of New York (CUNY).

Father Bonnici holds a Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and the Family/Pontifical Lateran University. He is the author of numerous articles on friendship, human sexuality, marriage and co-habitation. He is the co-author, with Joseph Giandurco, of “Partners in Life and Love” and the author of “Person to Person: Friendship and Love in the Life of Hans Urs von Balthasar.”
