Help Complete a New Church and Community Center in Egypt

Abnee Baitak is a new satellite suburb of the town of Madinat as-Sadis min Uktubar, the “Town of the 6th of October,” which itself is a relatively new satellite town, close to the capital Cairo. The new suburb was built by the Egyptian government in order to provide living space for young families. What this new suburb still lacks, however, is a Catholic church. At present the nearest Catholic church is over 13 miles away.

In 2015, the Egyptian Prime Minister granted a building permit for the construction of the Catholic Church here. Since it is far from easy to obtain such permits in Egypt, work began immediately on its construction. ACN helped at the time with $32,400, and now the building work on the new church and attached community center for the various pastoral and social activities of the parish is well advanced.

In order to complete the work as quickly as possible, we have been asked again for help, and so we are stepping in once more with a promise of a further contribution of $32,400.

Will you help us fulfill this promise to build a new church and community center in this new suburb in Egypt?

Words of Comfort and Hope

“This brief note is to let you know that we, the monks in Sri Lanka, are praying for the whole world every day from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm before the Blessed Sacrament. And as we pray for the whole world, we have not forgotten you at ACN; you and your loved ones are also remembered in a special way. We pray that the Good Lord may protect you, your loved ones from this pandemic as we believe in a God who is good.”
