Help Rebuild Two Chapels Destroyed by a Cyclone in Mozambique
In January 2017, the northern coast of Mozambique, already one of the world’s poorest countries, was battered by a severe cyclone. The storm brought heavy rainfall and devastated large swathes of land; countless people lost their homes.
Properties of the Church were also damaged, especially in the Diocese of Nacala. Its Parish of Netia-Natete covers a vast and predominantly rural area; prior to the storm, the parish had no fewer than 120 outstations, more than half of which are now destroyed.
Father Antonio Gasolina has turned to ACN for help, as his parish is utterly dismayed. For the faithful of Mozambique, God is a priority: they hope to rebuild two chapels in the region’s most remote villages, and though they live from hand to mouth, they have all contributed to the construction effort.
Still, they cannot cover the costs of services and materials, so we have promised them $17,500.
Will you help Mozambique rebuild its chapels and strengthen its Christian community?
