Support Religious Sisters of the Holy Family in Ukraine
The Sisters of the Holy Family urgently need our aid. Currently working in eight different centers in Ukraine, these Sisters normally help in parishes, mainly teaching catechism in the schools and working in the sacristies. Due to the pandemic, catechism classes have been suspended and the Liturgy is only celebrated online. As a result, the Sisters have lost their main source of income. Similarly, retreats and days of recollection, which also formed an important part of the congregation‘s income, were likewise canceled.
For now, the Sisters in the provincial house in Lviv are limited to growing vegetables and producing noodles for sale in order to at least contribute something towards their own support. Even before the pandemic, the economic situation in Ukraine was bad; now, everything has become still more difficult. Prices are soaring, and more and more people are knocking on the Sisters’ door, seeking help. Although they themselves are in need, the Sisters share what little they have with those still poorer than themselves. They also cook dinners for the lonely and needy and buy basic essentials for those in desperate need.
We have decided to help these 51 Sisters to at least cover their modest basic needs during these difficult times, so that they are able to continue to help others, without becoming destitute themselves. We are proposing to give them basic support of $29,500.
Will you join in supporting these religious Sisters in Ukraine as they struggle to continue their service during these difficult times?
We are sure they will remember you in their grateful prayers.
Aid to the Church in Need commits to invest your funds where they will have the greatest impact for the Church that we serve. Funds donated to Aid to the Church in Need’s projects will be used towards the greatest need in our programs to help keep the Faith alive.
