A Car for the Missionary Sisters of Niger and Burkina Faso

The Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of the Apostles (Soeurs de Notre Dame des Apôtres) work in many fields, including education, catechesis, and healthcare. At the same time, they also care for children from poor families. The congregation is present today on all five continents, in more than twenty countries.

In West Africa, the congregation is currently enjoying new vocations. The regional province for Burkina Faso and Niger is still relatively new, although the Sisters have been present in Niger since 1950. The province has twenty-nine Sisters working in seven different communities, and both countries are among the poorest and least developed in the world, according to the UN’s Human Development Index.

In Niger and Burkina Faso, the Sisters have a great deal to do. They are there to help all who turn to them, regardless of faith. Until recently, one of their biggest problems was the fact that they did not have a car, even though the Mother House is almost 850 miles from the most remote town they serve.

Now, because of our benefactors, we were able to give the $25,600 needed for a vehicle strong enough to handle the roads. Their heartfelt thanks to all of you!

Aid to the Church in Need commits to invest your funds where they will have the greatest impact for the Church that we serve. Funds donated to Aid to the Church in Need’s projects will be used towards the greatest need in our programs to help keep the Faith alive.
