Courage in Faith - Remembering those martyred for the Faith
Each year, Aid to the Church in Need pauses to remember the modern-day martyrs of our Church — the men, women, and children around the world who, even today, are given an impossible choice: renounce their faith, or die. This year, Courage in Faith Week is March 14–21, 2027.
In more places than most of us realize, that choice is real. Christians are imprisoned, driven from their homes, and killed simply for professing belief in Jesus Christ. Courage in Faith Week exists to ensure their witness is not forgotten, and to stand in solidarity with the suffering Church — praying for the persecuted, honoring the martyrs, and committing ourselves to the faith they refused to abandon and to suffering Christians today.
This year’s observance begins on March 14th with a special Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, offered by His Excellency Archbishop Ronald Hicks for the martyrs and the persecuted Church throughout the world.
We are especially grateful this year to be joined by parishes across the country, who will be offering their own Masses that same day in solidarity with the persecuted Church and in remembrance of the martyrs of the faith. Together, we lift up those who cannot pray freely, and we bear witness to the courage that costs everything.
