A Minibus for Blessed Sacrament Sisters in Lebanon

The Sisters of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Lebanon are overjoyed. Thanks to the support of our generous donors, we were able to give them money for a new minibus, which they needed for their work.

For this purpose, you gave almost $33,100.

Sister Maguy, who serves in Lebanon, writes: “On behalf of all the Sisters of our congregation, I would like to thank ACN for this help. Above all, I thank you on behalf of the people we serve. We visit the parishes, giving religious instruction, holding retreats, and doing other forms of pastoral work. We care for the elderly; we counsel those in difficulty. Your help represents a tremendous support for us in our work. Many, many thanks!”

A Minibus for Blessed Sacrament Sisters in Lebanon

This congregation was established in 1966 to help young women acquire practical training in dressmaking and tailoring, as well as to provide medical care; over time, other forms of service were added. They have eight convents in rural Lebanon, where poverty is particularly severe. The Sisters needed a vehicle to reach the poorest and most remote villages, bringing aid and consolation with them.

And their help is needed now more than ever. The war in neighboring Syria has resulted in the arrival of some 1.5 million refugees; unemployment is high and worsened by political crisis; in less than a year, Lebanese currency lost more than 80% of its value; prices for basic necessities have increased, quadrupling in some cases. Many families are struggling to survive, and despair is pervasive.

Because of your help, the Blessed Sacrament Sisters can more easily travel and bring comfort to people who have felt abandoned. Thank you so much!

Aid to the Church in Need commits to invest your funds where they will have the greatest impact for the Church that we serve. Funds donated to Aid to the Church in Need’s projects will be used towards the greatest need in our programs to help keep the Faith alive.
