Success Story: A Boat for Pastoral Work in Tanzania

Thanks to the generosity of our benefactors, we were able to contribute $12,300 to enable Father Florius Mpete, the priest of the Parish of Lumbila, in the Diocese of Njombe, Tanzania, to purchase a motorboat with which he can now visit the Catholic faithful in the outstations. The boat has already arrived, and Father Florius and his parishioners are overjoyed.

All eight outstations of this parish on the shores of Lake Malawi can only be reached by water since there are no roads. Until now, local priests have hired boats belonging to parish members, but this had become increasingly difficult.

Father Mpete has written to thank us: “The Christians of Lumbila send you their heartfelt thanks for your generous financial support. We are immensely grateful to your benefactors who have given from their own pockets for the proclamation of the Gospel.”

“May God send his abundant blessings on you all and keep you strong in spirit and body in his service!”

Aid to the Church in Need commits to invest your funds where they will have the greatest impact for the Church that we serve. Funds donated to Aid to the Church in Need’s projects will be used towards the greatest need in our programs to help keep the Faith alive.
