Two Motorcycles for Newly Ordained Priests in Benin

Each year, Bishop Antoine Sabi Bio in northwest Benin rejoices at being able to ordain more young men to the priesthood, and the number of vocations is growing.

On January 7, 2023, Félix Simbianou and Méternich Zinsou were solemnly ordained in the Diocese of Natitingou‘s Holy Redeemer cathedral. On the same day, thanks to ACN donors, Bishop Antoine Sabi Bio was able to present his two new priests with a motorcycle each. Hundreds of Catholic faithful had traveled from all over the diocese to take part in this great event.

Being able to reach the people is key to the life of a priest, and already before the ordinations, Bishop Bio had asked us to help him equip his two new priests. Parishes include numerous far-flung settlements, so quick and easy travel is essential.

Thankfully, due to the generosity of our benefactors, we were able to send Bishop Bio $6,300 to to help them in their future pastoral work. There was great rejoicing not just by them, but by all the Catholic faithful they will serve as well!

Both new priests were very moved and gave heartfelt expression to their joy and gratitude towards all the benefactors of ACN, promising to pray for you all and to make the best possible use of the motorcycles in their work of proclaiming the Good News.

The bishop himself has also written to express his gratitude to all who have helped. “With great joy I address this letter to you,” he writes, “to thank you for supporting our pastoral work.”

“May the Lord reward you a hundredfold!”
