A Sturdy Vehicle for a Parish in Uganda

A new parish in central Uganda is excited to have a new car. Dedicated to Saint Kizito, the youngest of the 20 Ugandan martyrs put to death between 1885 and 1887, the parish is based in a rural area without tarred roads. As a result, it is difficult to reach many villages in the rainy season, so a sturdy, all-terrain vehicle is essential for parish life.

For a long time, the only car they had was ancient and unreliable, which meant that the parish’s two priests could not devote all of their time to pastoral work. People in the more distant villages were left waiting for Holy Mass and the sacraments, as well as sick visits and general support.

Now, thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to provide $12,700 to help the parish purchase a new car. The parish priest, Father Jude Kiggala, wrote: “We are extremely grateful for the help given us by ACN. Our pastoral work has been greatly strengthened, and it is much easier now to visit the sick and elderly and participate in the life of the Christian communities in Uganda.”

A heartfelt thanks to all who have helped! May God reward you!
