Fund the Formation of 53 Novices of the Daughters of Our Lady in Indonesia

With a population of 272 million, Indonesia is the most populous Muslim nation on earth. Christians account for just 10% of the population, with Catholics at just 3%. While relatively small in number, the Church in Indonesia has good grounds for hope and joy, as there are many vocations to the religious life in this Southeast Asian nation.

Typical of this religious dynamism are the Daughters of Our Lady, Queen of the Holy Rosary, a home-grown congregation, founded in 1958 in Larantuka, on the island of Flores. Every year close to 20 young women join the congregation.

The Daughters have an important role to play, since as Indonesian women themselves they can do a great deal to promote greater respect for women in Indonesian society. Violence against women is a serious problem in the country, and by working with families and young people—including boys and young men—the Sisters are helping to create greater awareness and respect for the dignity of women and girls.

Indispensable for the religious life is a sound and solid spiritual formation, especially in a country where Christians are a minority.  While it is essential for the Sisters to be firmly rooted in their own Catholic identity, as a local, home-grown congregation, these Daughters of Our Lady have only very limited resources at their disposal.

We have promised to support the formation of 53 young novices with a contribution of $11,700.

Will you help support these young women training to be Daughter of Our Lady in Indonesia?

We are sure they will remember you in their grateful prayers.

Aid to the Church in Need commits to invest your funds where they will have the greatest impact for the Church that we serve. Funds donated to Aid to the Church in Need’s projects will be used towards the greatest need in our programs to help keep the Faith alive.
