Pakistan: Widow of Christian killed by mob dies

Destruction of a Christian home in Jaranwala, Pakistan, in August 2023. The violence was triggered by false accusations of blasphemy.

It is with great sorrow that Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) reports the passing of Alla Rakhi, the widow of the late Nazir Masih, who was tragically killed in the Sargodha mob. Overwhelmed by grief and depression from the death of her husband, Rakhi died, and the community of Mujahid Colony in Sargodha is devastated.

The tragedy that struck the Masih family has far-reaching consequences, disrupting the lives of many in Mujahid Colony. Families are displaced; businesses have closed; and jobs have been lost, creating a ripple effect of hardship and despair.

The situation in Pakistan is further exacerbated by the misuse of blasphemy laws, which continue to cause fear and violence. Just a few days ago, a Muslim man was brutally killed by a mob in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province over allegations of desecrating the Holy Quran. This incident highlights the urgent need for justice and protection for all communities in Pakistan.

ACN urges its friends and benefactors to pray for Christians in Pakistan during these challenging times. May God provide strength and solace to all those affected.
