Motorcycles for Religious Brothers in Togo
The Rural Missionary Brothers have worked in Africa since 1969. Today, they are present in four countries of West Africa: Togo, Burkina Faso, Benin, and Mali. But many parts of West Africa now face the threat of jihadist terrorism. In Burkina Faso, particularly, Christians suffer greatly from violence and persecution. The situation is critical, and in 2021, two of the missionary brothers in Burkina Faso were kidnapped. Miraculously, they were later released, but for security reasons, the community transferred its novitiate, where new vocations are trained, to the neighboring country of Togo.

There are four brothers and five novices stationed there, and they previously had only two motorcycles. Many of them needed to travel at the same time, to places as far as 20 to 30 miles away. This resulted in frequent problems, and their parishes suffered.
But thanks to the generosity of our benefactors, we were able to contribute $3,894 for three additional motorcycles. Brother Basile Kiema, the prior of the community, wrote to thank us: “We face numerous challenges, but because of your help, we have been able to purchase three motorcycles, which will help us to more easily reach people in need. We are most grateful to you!“
